More photos will be up soon. A lot has been going on. Second term is coming to a close... I've got like 3 weeks left. Micael and I fly out to Austin the day school gets out. I really can't wait. The summer is going to bring a lot of traveling and a lot of adventure. I am ready.

Moved out of my apartment yesterday. Unfortunately it didn't turn out to be everything I expected. I'd like to get a house in Silverlake or Echo Park... We'll see I guess.

Mopeds have become a slight obsession. Basically all I wanna do is ride. haha. Went on a short ride with the Latebirds on Sunday morning. Fun stuff.

I will be back in CA on April 29th and won't leave again until June 19th (Thailand and Burma here I come =]. So, if anyone would like to book a shoot please do so between those dates. I am in dire need of money so please, book a shoot.
My friends are pretty badass.
Sometimes closure is all we need. Eric was home for a few days. He deploys in like a week. Unreal. I will miss you terribly. You are my best friend. I love you.

My oldest sister turned 27. She's a big kid now too. The party was totally ridiculous.

The first of a series of updates...

My youngest niece Kenzie turned 2. She's a big kid now.

For Fine Art Photo we had to shoot 3 self portraits. This was an insanely hard assignment for me. Here is my final product, not too good but oh well.

For those of you interested in my trip to Burma...

We've got dates and agendas... Thailand and Burma I will see you in June. Here are some sites that will give you an idea of what we are going to be doing over there... These kids are awesome and I am incredibly lucky to be able to take part in this adventure:

a different kind of light...

So we had to shoot an assignment for my core lighting class using something to light the subject of my image that you normally wouldn't use to light a photograph. I chose to use a laptop monitor... here is the final product.

update...

This past week has been extremely up and down… my bank account and mental state have taken a brutal beating. It’s 11:00am on Thursday though, that means, one more assignment to print, one more to redo, and 3 more to shoot. That is an extremely light load given that I can do all 3 of my shoots digitally. Thank gooooooodness for digital. Outside of school life is going pretty well. I’ve been hanging out with the girls and Micael a lot, mopeding as much as I can, and that’s basically it. I’ve had a chance to go back home twice in the past two weeks. I really miss Nuevo and Menifee, as weird as that is to say, I really do. Living in a loud, dirty city is fun and exciting but I think my heart will always be in open fields. Here are some shots from my trip with the girls back home and one of Julia in the stage at school.

Exploring abandoned houses might be my favorite thing ever. Today we hit the jackpot. I've got some amazing friends. No one else can scream beatles songs like we do. Life is wonderful.

life as of now...

Second term is half way done, and it's only getting worse. The myths about 2nd term being insanely hard are all true. I've really got no time to relax, and when I do catch a couple of minutes I am stressing about how much I've still got to get done. My moods are unpredictable and usually bad... 7 more weeks then hopefully some adventure. I NEED ADVENTURE. It's only 10:27 and I am already complaining? wow.

Just when I've about had it and let my selfish attitude completely take over... I get this in my Inbox and am completely refreshed and reminded how amazing my life really is...

Burma....

Things are beginning to develop. If everything works out I will be in Burma this summer , working on a documentary film project as a photographer. Look into the current state of Burma, it will blow your mind.

Keep your fingers crossed =]

if you care for an update... here it is...

First off, school is sooo insane. No exaggeration, I am at school for about 10-14 hours per day. Even on my days off! (yes, this includes weekends) My life outside of school is... well... interesting to say the least. The people in my life never cease to amaze me. "Amaze" does not necessarily mean a good thing. People really are full of surprises. Here's a run down, image wise, on what's happening around me...

I have ranted about living on Sunset before, but I don't know if I mentioned how many lame movies are filmed on Sunset and Park (park is my cross street). At first I thought it was really cool to have movies filmed right outside but the more often it happened the less cool it became. They close off the entire street leaving you to pay a meter or park miles away. I don't know what movie is being filmed today but this lingers on the front door... I should go back home and photograph their movie making skills in action...

Moving along...

Eric came down to visit this week. It was nice to be able to take a night off and spend some time with him. I called it a night off but I still had to work. Here's a shot I took of him with the 4x5...

and here is my beloved record player...

For those of you who follow this blog, remember I took a trip to New York over my Winter break, well here are some images I shot on film that I just had time develop...

Nearly done... for Fine Art Photo I had to in a sense "rip off" the style of a well known photographer. I chose Stephen Shore. His work is pretty awesome. He shoots color negs which I attempted, haha. He focuses on "American surfaces". Mundane, Banal objects/scenes and makes you look at them. I set out to find a house that in my opinion is very "American". A house I wouldn't find anywhere but here... annnnd here it is...

I am looking forward to this weekend. There is a huge moped ride that I will be shooting for a project of mine. I hope I make it to the weekend, I've got a loooooot of work to do. Ohhh yeah, if I see anymore people being all "valentiney and in love" I'm going to throw something... you know how I do. Holla.

THE END.

it only gets harder...

I remember a time when I thought war was something you only read about in history books. Until now, it still was to me in a sense. I did not feel the magnitude of this war like I do now. Now that someone I love has to be subjected to it. I wish it didn't depress me like it does.

eric

Meet Eric...
He is the one person who would take a bullet for me. I am blessed beyond words to have someone so special in my life. He takes the phrase "best friend" to a whole new level.

Please keep him in your thoughts, your prayers, your whatever. He is home for 2 weeks, then back to Germany, then off to Iraq for a 15 month tour.

finally feels like home...

I really do love where I live.

Julia

Meet Julia...

Moving to LA was hard. I never intended on living here. In fact, I vowed to never move here. Despite my opposition to this place I picked up and moved. again. I couldn't be happier with my decision. The people that I've met here are amazing. Julia in particular has quickly become a close friend of mine. I am extremely lucky.

(4x5 scan)
love her to death.

Micael

Meet Micael...He's the kind of person who forces you to open your eyes.

I am better because of him.

growing up...

It took me a long time to figure out that friendships are second best in the realm of relationships. No matter what my family has always been there for me. Through all of my changes, all of my bad decisions. Things like that can send a "friend" running, but not family. Mine is incredibly loyal and strong, and definitely not going anywhere. Finally, in my 23rd year the importance of family is beginning to set in.

Fine Art?

As an Assignment for my Fine Art Photography class I had take images that depicted a song.

My song:
"Without a Song" by: Vetiver
